Tamayama Kinzan, located on Mount Hikami, is a former gold mine. Next to the Mount Hikami trailhead there is a hot spring facility called Tamanoyu. In the past, the Tamayama Kinzan mine produced not just gold, but also fine quartz crystals. Nowadays, visitors to the site can enjoy collecting crystals as part of an experience program offered through Tamanoyu. Reservations are required for the crystal collecting experience or overnight stays at Tamanoyu, but no reservation is needed to enjoy the baths at Tamanoyu as a day trip.
