Although the meal’s official name translates as “Rikuzentakata scallops and wakame grilled hot pot meal,” it’s called hotawaka gozen for short. This set meal features a tower of plates with scallops placed on each, and a hot pot featuring fresh wakame seaweed. Local restaurants jointly developed this meal out of a desire to create a new signature specialty for Rikuzentakata. It is currently offered at several hotels and restaurants throughout the city.
