Mt. Imade Gold Mine is said to have supported the "Golden Culture" of Hiraizumi. By the Edo period, tunnel mining was established, and it became known as one of the "Four Great Gold Mines of Kesen." Today, the site preserves numerous tunnel and waterway remains, alongside traces of early Showa-era mechanization. At Kuromoridaira on the eastern foot, hundreds once lived in a village complete with offices, a cinema, and row houses. Moss-covered stone walls remain as a legacy of this modern mining era.
